Things I Need to Become a Real Writer

A comfy, dumpy robe to work and pout around in.

Disheveled hair

Typewriters!

A smoking habit

A drinking habit

A wonderful desk

And endless supply of kick-ass notebooks (Personally I’m extremely fond of these.)

A laptop

Time enough at last

I’m only being half-serioius.

And a good story to tell. You’re probably gonna want that more than all the rest of this stuff combined.

Oh I got that. I got good stories falling out of my butt. Well, at least one. Hopefully. I just need stuff to let it land on, then a desk to spread it out over, and the time to straighten it out.

In about two weeks I’ll find out if I got chosen to have someone make sure I make the time to do all that, and then tell me how crap it is and how to fix it. Here’s hoping!

(Honestly, I believe you don’t neeeed anything to be a writer besides the will to do it and follow-through. It’s easy to see how people get caught up in the artifacts of their writing-religions, though.)
